Side-view Home Design

Home designs with as many ideas as there are sides

When deciding on a home design, why settle for only a Victorian or an Italian villa? How about a style for every side to your house? A design rich home might have as many diverse styles as you can integrate sides into your design. For example, how about a sweet cottage style house (side) complete with shutters and lattice, and another side fashioned after the Eames house (modern simplicity). Another side would have a dome attached, yet another a mountain cabin with rough-hewn logs. Each side would be designed so that you could not see it from another angle. Appropriate garden architecture and design would accompany the style. By designing your home in this fashion, all your diverse tastes would be indulged. No more, "Honey, I am tired of living in a tudor."

Novel first post, [Asta] and welcome. The link button there on the left should help you with the web addresses. The 'help' file is a pretty good resource if you have any questions for operating the HB's cool features.

Thanks for the encouragement. Added ideas could include a "scary" side, a "comic" side and maybe an "off" side (for those bad days).

Well, human being seeks for pleasure. Even if this idea doesn't solve very imporant social or other problems, it's a nice idea to imagine. Why I can't see the pages linked?

The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona appears to have been (is being) built along these lines - Gaudi's organic, textured front, an angular, vaguely cubist rear and a fairly bog standard left and right wall. But it's not a house, unless you believe in God.

A thought: stone cladding on all sides of plain cube building, multicoloured for Rubik's effect.

How about putting the entire house on a giant turntable so you can change which side faces the street to suit your mood? Nice idea.

i like it!! welcome [asta]. i see that [letsbuildafort] has done a good welcome overview. What a good way to start off!! i used to build my lego houses like that because i could never decide...or i didn't have enough legos, so the sides got less and less detailed, so would change as i went around, so it just LOOKED that way..:)
