Good heavens, the titles of ideas have gotten dreadfully long, and rather silly. Could we just go back to a short yet sweet and catchy idea Name? PLEASE???

Be nice to poor beanangel now. Long and rather silly is just how it turns out for his doings. Can't we all just get along - the long and silly, the short and sweet, the terse and bitter, the rambling and misspelled.

Well, not the misspelled. But all the rest.

       No.

Somebody should start an online service for creating catchy idea names, maybe call it Catchy Idea Names 'R Us.

Hmmm, far too long; I see what you mean. D'Oh!

The problem is, anyone with a truely cutting edge idea won't be understood by anyone else. Jutta has made this beautiful magic, called the halfbakery, that tries to distill the thought, heart and body of an idea. Anyone whom doesn't adhere to the method risks leaving their cutting edge idea floundering and waiting for someone in the future to be more communicative.

Of course most of the ideas aren't that envelope piercing but the important three attempt message still stands.

I used to spend as much time thinking up a title as I did the idea. Just enough to tempt the reader into clicking. Or at least I tried. It was half the fun. Well a quarter anyway...

I agree, amd then on many occasions was accused of simply creating the ideas retrospectively to fit the titles.

Wow, the wobbly web we walk when we agree. xenzag.

Yes, for example; Two Cups of Coffee, could have been-Two coffee cups filled with hot coffee for one person or maybe two. That is how today's writer would have written it. Give it all away. Why even bother opening the idea???
blissmiss, Oct 10 2016

       2 coffees.

       " l'art d'ennuyer consiste à tout dire"

I ran across that most excellent quote in the "Strong Materials" book Max recommended elsewhere on this site. I checked and it is from Voltaire. Very relevant.

Also Miles Davis: ""It's not the notes you play, it's the notes you don't play.""

Hmm, like, the sound of the demolition of a building contains beautiful music; you just need to remove the bits that AREN'T beautiful music.

       That calls for extensive testing.
