I was reading about the rolex stealing problem. The problem is that watches are detachable. They need to be more like a prosthetic hip or a breast implant. Only a few bones are close enough to the skin to implant a watch and have it be visible. The forehead is one such bone. The watch could be implanted such that a standard watch face faces out from the forehead, which would be a striking look. The problem is that the skin might get infected where the posts went through, which would spoil the Shivaness of it (unless it turned blue).

Better would be a watch completely under the skin, like a pacemaker. It would glow visibly through the skin. A full circle would be noon or midnight, and as time advanced, an increasing pie slice would be dark, until at 1150 only a sliver would remain.

The Shiva watch could either have an automatic motion driven rewinder, or be charged from an external inducer like a pacemaker.

       This is half-baked in a sci-fi story - "The Park", maybe ? One if the characters has a timepiece implanted under the skin of his wrist.

       The display could be made up of bumps protruding and retracting from your forehead to create a dot-matrix image of the time, in reverse. You give yourself a good solid dope slap with the heel of your hand, then read the time in the divots left in your skin. Other people could avoid asking you if you have the time, and just give you a dope slap and see for themselves.

       It was also halfbaked on Arthur C. Clarke's "The Light From Other Days" I think. Well, sort of, because what they used were glow in the dark tatoos, if I remember it correctly. I would absolutely want one.

       Hm. All that this ex-user ever posted were links to commercial UK sites vaguely in the general area of their host ideas. Sometimes he tried to tie them in with the specifics of the idea, usually not. Not one of them was actually on topic. (Hence the "ex-".)   

       There weren't many of them - only about six - and they were from different genres - carpet tiles to personalized license plates to, now, watches - and from different host providers. How very odd.
