There are, Google tells me, a few types of self supporting mosquito nets (SSMNs).
As far as I can tell, there isn't one for hammocks - the existing designs are like modified dome tents or made to go over a camp bed and sleeping bag.
my idea is as follows:
the main body of the SSMN follows convention,
being made from the standard white (or other colour) fine plastic (Nylon/polyester? mesh. It is reinforced at about 18"/45cm intervals with spring steel (or appropriate plastic) hoops for about 6'/200cm. The ends would have holes with canvas 'arms' attatched, which would themselves be elasticated, garter like, at intervals to prevent mosqito intrusion this way.
Entry would be effected via a zip two thirds to three quarters of the way up the body of the net, running parallel to the hoops.
The net would incorporate a method of suspending it equally around the occupant of the hammock, most likely pieces of elastic/bungee cord with hooks attatched, located at or slightly above the centerline (x axis) that would hook onto the hammock.
The SSMN would pack away into a neat circular cover measuring approximately 5" in depth by three feet across. Unless it could be twisted back onto itself like those pop up tents...

[xandram] that looks like a giant sheet of muslin. |
Admittedly my researches didn't take me very far, so I'm not that surprised that there already is something out there. |
there's no accounting for those photos. Check out the whole site, there are others that look more like mesh. |
They're called "Jungle Hammocks." |
Is there an echo in here? |
Sorry, [caspian], I don't think [helium] visits here anymore. |
[xandram], I doubt bliss would be comfortable in a hammock right now, what with her neck and all. |
[putterling], here's another link. Perhaps you'd like to voluntarily remove this idea as it appears to be Baked? |
Hmm...
I'm in two minds about whether of not to remove this, due to the links. |

It is, in some ways, similar to [AH]s PopOpens, being large and hooped. (perhaps if [AH]'s description was clearer...) |
The SSMN would fit hammocks with and without spreader bars as it would tubular to funnel-like,(fig.1) instead of tapering to the ends like the linked versions. |
I think I'll leave it (at least, for the time being) and see what else arises. |

I have this hammock with integrated mosquito net. The net supports the hammock over the ridgeline and gives hammock good shape. So looks like your idea is baked. |
