Self Cleaning Faucet Handles

 A faucet that has a slow stream of water comming out of the handles

Because you have to turn the faucet handle with dirty hands, then turn off the faucet with clean hands, you get your hands dirty. What I propose is a faucet the has a slow flow of water comming out of the faucet handle, with a drain beneath. The handle water would turn on with the faucet. Automatic faucets are expensive, but this could use a piece of tubing.

       Here in Florida, we generally try to keep our bathrooms dry. If you have create a spot that is constantly wet, you're going to get mold. I'll take a little dirt over mold any day.   

       Not to mention, of course, the many hundreds of gallons of water that would be wasted over the course of a year...

       You could get around the 'waste of water' argument by redesigning the tap so that it looks like a capital letter 'G'. The pipe connecting to the mains would be at 90 degrees to the 'G' and the handle is beneath the water spout so that it gets cleaned when you turn it on. Splashing may be a problem though so some redesign of the handle may be required.
