Disposable, lab-grown skin ...

You want a tan? Get the self-sticking skin, 10 per package, comes in all colors. You can look green today and pink tomorrow, they also come in assorted colors! Tattoos are optional ... Why bother to get a tan and risk getting skin cancer? Why judge people because of their skin color? Why not send in your dead skin cells and the lab will grow new ones that can be sticked on every day! Like contact lenses, retinol cream, liposuction, breast implant and those little pills, we need one more "miracle" to make us feel better! Aromatherapeutic skin, how's that sound? "Skin" that has been pre-packaged to "smell" like apple cinnamon, wild musk, rain forest or someone's old sneakers! I think this is a great idea!

       Wouldn't you have to grow the skin from your own cells (or that of your identical twin) to avoid immune rejection of the add-on? So this will be a very high-end product, at least before garage bio-tech takes off. No doubt the tabloids and society pages will be reporting on the _really_ new looks of movie stars and other celebrities rather soon...

       Now I'm getting some of this!

       Skin like all organic matter rott's and festers when dead you put this stuff next to your flesh you will get skin eating disease or something.

       "Skin like all organic material rott's [sic] and festers when dead..."

       There is technology to prevent this. One word: "leather".

       Hm. Now there's a body modification that I haven't seen yet.

       It happens...it just doesn't generally happen ON PURPOSE. My brother knows someone who had a tattoo done, and they didn't sterilize the needle or something ....Ew.

       i'm sure they'd be able to come up with a substance you'd rub on your person before applying the self-sticking skin to insure freshness. it'd probably come packaged in imbalming fluid anyway.

       ///Hm. Now there's a body modification that I haven't seen yet///

       Leather skin implants....interesting. I'm sure someone would try it. Perhaps a regular piece of leather, properly teflon-coated (or similar) on the bioactive side and with the proper growth-encouraging agents in it would actually be accepted by the person's body. Or it might be rejected. Or eaten by macrophages.

       That gives me an idea.
