Sausage condom

I'm sick of my gormet meats drying out.

Simple really I'm surprised nobody has thought of this already, a latex condom thicker than usual (so it has a longer life) to help preserve your gourmet sausages. You only ate a quarter of the salami well, now you don't need to worry about the rest going hard and dry simply roll on the gourmet sausage condom and hey presto it will stay fresh for as long as you want.

The condom would need to have a piece of thick string attached to the end so you could tie it off and create a seal around the sausage so air doesn't get in. pizza shops would use stacks of these, you could colour code your susages if your a big sausage fan like I am, they would come in different sizes, in fact you could make them as varied condoms themselves and the sausages they accommodate.

PS - thicker and more durable than normal condom.

       Cling film?
sild, Nov 26 2002

thank you st3f, everybody knows that cling wrap kills dolphins, whales, turtles, seabirds, young children and every other living thing on this planet, plus its wastefull this can be used again and again.

       *safe* cling film :)

I think st3f's note was a subtle hint to edit your existing idea.

Also, I'm not sure I would eat anything that's been in a condom.

Peter silly this makes perfect sence, anyway they wouldnt look much like condoms its just a name, it would help save the envornment and it would be heaps easier than cling wrap, just roll on roll off.

ordinary sausages already come in a type of edible condom packaging. this is just doubling up really. I love the idea of the length of string. croissant for that neat touch.
po, Nov 26 2002

If you used one of those lambskin condoms, you could just leave it on and eat it along with the sausage. Sort of an extra casing.

I dunno. I always used clingfilm to protect my salami.

The resivoir tip could be used to store your favorite dipping sauce. You could take an all-in-one treat to work . . .

For individual portions of ' boil in the bag Cod in Sauce', take one used conventional condom, and insert a frozen fish finger. Tie open end securely. Place in water, bring to boil and simmer gently for 2-3 minutes. Serve with mashed potato and peas.

I think you will find the link that po has provide will show you why cling flim shouldn't be used with sausages.

       'Gormet?'
mrthingy, Nov 27 2002

Goar mey I think is the original spelling.

we all know oil rots rubber. duh, condom ed 101. but. there is the wonderful ziploc!
onewetleg, Jun 07 2003

Wouldn't neccesarily have to be made of latex like a real condom, so the oil is no problem. It could be any flexible plastic.

The trick is to eat the salami as one would amputate a limb - leave some of the skin standing, and later tie it up over the cut flesh.
