SNN could pehaps be done in 30 min segments by discipline with cut ins for breaking news.
A ticker at the bottom gives updates on the day's scientific news.

       I like it!

I get three music video channels, two with nothing but reality TV, and the women's network, and I would gladly exchange all of them along with a dozen others for SNN.

[+] Definite bun, especially if you can promise it won't succumb to the temptation to run hyped-up, bad-science 'science' stories.
imaginality, Dec 17 2006

No, that's why the science channel has so many really old re-runs...
BJS, Dec 17 2006

There always seems to be something in the science section of yahoo news. Much cool stuff, too. Furry lobsters and whatnot.

(+) I am really surprised; I always thought it was existing at least in the US.

[+] Actually SNN might be the only network where having a reality show would'nt suck as bad.

A great series for this channel would be "Mad Scientists". I envision a team of 4 or 5 nerds who tackle some wild scheme each week - build a railgun, make liquid sodium depth charges, homemade thermite, etc. Sort of Mythbusters meets Jackass: science slaved to the service of spectacular mayhem.

For once I would like the camera person to be a part of the team, too. Offering witty off camera comments, poking a face around into the lens from time to time, etc.

I'd imagine there would always be a phD student somewhere willing to get his work on the air.
Cuit_au_Four, Dec 19 2006

We get Brainiac here (AU) too. It's lame. Rough Science was better - drop a group of working scientists on a deserted island and let them use their skills in survival related tasks.

Cool, they're reshowing the one where Neil Armstrong landed on the moon.

How did this get so many buns, and my Nerd Radio idea got boned? :*(
