Skating in the sky

Dear Aunt Bessie,
Thank you so much for the gift certificate to the roller blade roller coaster. Dad took me yesterday, and it was really a blast. The first you do is to choose in-line skates that fit. They are special, more like ski boots and with safety wheels that hold you in slots on the track.

With the roller blades on, you take a small elevator up to one of three levels, higher for more advanced. I got off at the first level, and when the track was clear, they locked me into the slots and switched me onto the track.

Like a roller coaster, you glide all the way down, up and around, trying to bank on the curves – no brakes! What a ride! This was the best present ever. Happy New Year, Johnny

P.S. Dad took a photo that you can click on below. That’s me on the left starting to get the hang of it.

Looks like fun. Locked in the slots, eh? Can I have the on-site emergency orthopedic care concession rights, please?

       Dear Sister,
How DARE you treat my children with such wanton disregard for their safety through your thoughtless gifts of dangerous experiences. What's it going to be next year, a shotgun?

...There was a long wait with so much space between skaters, but I really appreciated the distance when I lost my balance -- it was a long time before the next skater ploughed into me, so I had a chance to brace myself and tuck my shattered tibia back into my boot.

The strange thing was, Dad just stood there the whole time grinning and taking photos. How do you think this will affect my psychological development?

       With much love,

       Johnny

P.S. I found a staple in the cookies you sent me.

P.S.S. Don't worry about my old ankle injury. They have full-length leg braces that go straight up past your knees and support everything if you need 'em...

Next time I try the black diamond slope...

What if I just lean back?

Baked by a guy in Germany it seems.
