AI is getting good at a lot of things, very quickly. I took a picture of my bathroom and uploaded the picture to Microsoft Copilot and asked it where the shower is, and it gave me the following shockingly accurate description of my bathroom in its answer:
"The shower is located on the right side
of the image, behind a glass door. The bathroom features floral wallpaper and tiled flooring, with a towel hanging on the wall and a white laundry basket below it. There's also a blue towel on what appears to be a toilet cover in the foreground."
This got me thinking about the possibilities of a robot vacuum cleaner (aka Roomba) with a camera at ground level with a narrow focus, since it only has to see directly in front of the vacuum as it will eventually cover the whole floor, and on onboard AI program, to be used for finding lost objects in your house. Dropped a ring or some eyeglasses and don't have the time or physical agility to crawl under the bed or couch to look for it? Tell the AI what you've lost, and as it does its usual thing, it snaps pictures as it goes, scans them for the missing object, and notifies you when its eventually found, marking its location on the map of your house within the app and sending you a picture to confirm it got it right or tell it to keep looking.

Copilot missed the pubic hair on the blue towel. Well, you can't have everything. |

I lost a gold ring for a few weeks. This would've been a lifesaver! |
