On the regular domestic-type of waste bins - where you stuff them full of household garbage, recycleables, organics, whatever, then wheel them out to the curb, later picking them up from the ditch on the other side of the road and moving them back against the side of the house or into the shed - the
hinge is on the same side as the wheels and the handle.
Which means, every time you want to move the thing around, there's this backing and filling gymnastic routine at both ends of the journey to place the lid suchly to open to the front... leaving the handle and wheels at the back.
So, put the lid hinge on the other side, and make the handle fold down (so it doesn't get drooled on when the bin is emptied).

//make the handle fold down// Sounds like it won't be idiot proof. The poor driver's is go to be cursing. Replaceable double hinge lid for those that need this. |

Mainly, waste bins need people not to push their quota. |

[Iam] that is fine until the neighbour sneaks out and turns it round. Usually less than 20 minutes later. I assume they have a camera and image-recognition AI that sends an automated text to their phone notifying them of a handle-outward bin. |

That's not excessive, for a bin. |
