How does it happen? We're sat watching something on telly, and the adverts come on too loud or we get bored of the awful "reality" programmes, and go to change channels. But where's the remote? It's got to be here somewhere, cos we turned the tv on with it. but...where?
Switch on all the lights, turn
all the cushions off the sofa - and finally find it.
But how come we never lose the cushions?
Remotes are quite compact, and in the context of use, they're often put down when you're distracted by something.
So this idea is - have one or more cushions that have the TV remote integrated. Perhaps big soft buttons, and a way to avoid changing the channel when you sit on them (maybe a combination of 3 buttons at once to activate it) - it could also use accelerometers so that shaking it at the TV turns the volume down, throwing it at the TV turns it off...
and too big to slip down the back of the sofa.

I can confirm that cushions tend to multiply inexplicably.
Perhaps that's where all the socks go. [+] |

Presumably socks are the larval stage, and the cushion is the chrysalis. |
|
|
What's the adult form, though ? |
|
|
Unless, of course, the socks are indeed larvae, but cushions predate them; thus cushions grow plump and multiply in numbers by consuming unwary socks. |
|
|
Now that would explain much that is currently mysterious. |

//adult//... it's got to be the duvet then. |

That fits the observed facts, too. Duvets parasitize their human hosts by sucking life-energy from them while they are asleep, resulting in waking up feeling like you're The One With The Ordinary Zinc-Carbon Batteries every morning ... |
