Recoil Knife

Rotating the handle of this knife clockwise winds an internal spring.
This spring quickly turns a removable shaft along the top edge of this knife which in turn spins a flexible metal 'foot' at the tip, held in place with a mousetrap-like catch.

Making the first chop releases the spring and the length you've preset the foot determines just how high the knife will bounce after the initial chop.

Reversible food safe anti-cut glove sold separately.

I can't decide if this is a really good bad idea, or a really bad good idea.

Does it have a kind of semi-automatic mechanism for repeated recoil chopping, or are you thinking more of one mighty recoil? Could it be plugged into mains power or stronger recoil? Or perhaps have a small 2-stroke engine built into the handle?

I thought this was going to be an idea about a stabbing knife that springs back into its holder after penetrating some unfortunate victim up to the hilt.

       I was glad it wasn't.
