In comon with many who commute by bicycle, I use Shimano SPD pedals on my bicycle (see link). They are fantastic - small recessed metal plates (cleats) bolted to the bottom of my cycling shoes clip easily and securely to these pedals and can be released by twisting the foot sideways. They vastly improve the efficiency of pedalling and I'd recommend them to anyone.

What I'd like is if more thing were fitted either with cleats or the clip and release mechanism. Then my cycling shoes could clip into rollerblades, giant bouncy spring feet, pedalo pedals, etc.

Bun for making pedalo travel vastly more efficient. Very important, that.

How about a path of clips up the side of a building to save wear and tear on the staircase?

Would be an odd configuration for scuba fins, but (+)

The obvious complementary idea is surgically implanted cleats, so you don't have to waste time putting the shoes on...
