I understand that not everyone votes on every idea, but I try to. I have a view of ideas I've not voted on, but it's missing the sense of serendipity that the random button holds.
Conversely, when I use the random button, I more often than not end up at an idea I've already voted on. This isn't
always a bad thing, but the repetition of clicking the random button in order to churn up an idea I've missed also removes the element of surprise.
While I don't think the programming overhead is too high, the performance hit might be.

Odd that you can create a view of more than a given # of votes, but not a less than view. |

I used to have a "not voted or commented on" view, sorted by date order, which if you scroll to the earliest entry gives you a random enough result and certainly something from the crypt. |
|
|
But then I realized I was obsessing about commenting on every idea, and deleted my account. |

Yeah. I think of it as an obligation. It's not something I work at too hard, though. |

Finally uncovered, my personal autoboner. |

[phoenix] I had the same thought, and have a not-voted on or commented on view, but I'd love it if the Random button was context sensitive and produced a random idea based on the view it was clicked on from, rather than from the whole pool.
P.S. any idea how your progress has been out of the 22k ideas? |
|

actually, I've been thinking it might be nice if when you submitted (either a new anno or a link) if instead of refreshing to this page, it just pulled another random one out from your view. |

This could possibly be hand-baked on the client side. One of the few places jutta uses bold text is in the indication of your current vote. (The other obvious one is idea names that are new this week). |
|
|
A client script could "push" the random button, then examine the page that comes up for either "-<b>" or "+<b>" in the HTML of the resulting page indicating you already voted. If present, repeat. If not present, stop and enjoy. |

a kind of bookmarklet [krelnik] ? |

I recently created a view that listed all the ideas that I have commented on, but not voted. This was so I could restore my votes after the crash; the idea being that if I'd commented on an idea, I'd probably voted on it. |

I'm working my way through, but there are a lot more than I remember... |
