Ever stepped on a rake and had the oak handle snap up and whack you on the head? Imaging a footrace race through a field of tall fescue, the grass hiding thousands and thousands of rakes.

Oh, I suppose the wussies can wear helmets if they want to.

Takeshi's Castle Challenges http://en.wikipedia...s_Castle_Challenges
[calum, Oct 19 2005]

intacto http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0220580/
you can even see a blindfolded man running thru trees on the cover [benfrost, Oct 19 2005]

       No! No helmets!

This sounds like it would make an excellent game on Takeshi's Castle.

Attach large hands to the handles, when the rakes snap up, the contestents recieve a slap about the face.

I love Takeshi's Castle. I wish they'd show the full version on UK TV so you could watch contestants face the final challenge of the Count!

This idea also reminds me of an old Prodigy video where blindfolded people were sprinting through a variety of landscapes.

this is fantastic! add mousetraps also -

[DocBrown] i too recently saw the afore mentioned 'Prodigy' film clip and i was shocked to notice they had lifted that entire scene from a spanish film called 'intacto'. its a great film and i was upset it was lifted so blatantly. . .

Reminds me of the hilarious “Cape Feare” episode of The Simpsons, when Sideshow Bob repeatedly stepped on rakes that were scattered about.

Reminds me also of Gary Larson's "African Rake Snake" cartoon, the object of which also flipped up out of long grass.

Bravo! If the rake handles were stiff rubber, they would administer only a ringing slap, and the runner could run on, for more slappings.

Its a shoeless event of course. Rakes aren't so sharp as to break the skin, but blunt so as to bruise the skin. Simplify, instead of fescue why not have the rakes hidden under a layer of fog.

Also a humane alternative to landmines :-)

Also a cheap alternative to painball landmines.

// Reminds me of the hilarious “Cape Feare” episode of The Simpsons, when Sideshow Bob repeatedly stepped on rakes that were scattered about. // Or the new HGTTG* film, where they get slapped every time they have an idea.

Cool idea for the race, though. When, its televised, please tell me.
