Instead of locating at one spot somewhere in the city, I would like to see the zoo spread along intracity rail-track, thus utilizing vacant areas. Everyday commuters will get a chance to feel close to nature by looking at those animals.

Sort of like "Jurassic Park"?...What could go wrong?

Train noise could be a problem for animals. But I think they will get used to it.
VJW, Jul 12 2011

One wouldn't have much time to look at or associate with the animals...maybe they could ride the train or have their own car like a Circus Train!

I would particularly look forward to the Railway zoo's aquarium exhibit.

To reduce the problem of zipping past the animals too fast to see them clearly, the animals could be housed on slower-moving trains that travel alongside the main passenger train. The animals would be transported in both directions all day long.

There could just be a *petting car*...
xandram, Jul 12 2011

Or restrict the exhibits to cheetahs, hawks, Jamaicans and other things which can keep pace with the train.

How much time have you spent around animals? Just because they got used to the noise, and that's if they got used to it, doesn't mean they'd like it. Animals have very interesting ways of dealing with things they don't like. Remember, not everyone is as environmentally adaptable as us humans.

oh, look at the monkeys tearing up the rails!

Quick transportation readily available for escaping animals.

...or have many animals of each species spaced equidistantly alongside the railway track - e.g. 5000 giraffes, spaced out at 20-metre intervals - and illuminated by strobe lighting so as to give a sort of zoetrope-like effect of a single animal.
hippo, Jul 13 2011

// zoetrope-like // They will apear to be dancing as an added bonus.
