Jensen adjusted his VR goggles. They never seemed to fit him quite right. He studied the map that projected from his wrist onto nothing but virtual airspace. One or perhaps two pieces were still out of position to his southeast, preventing him from proceeding to the 9th level map. He cursed. The first few levels had been easy. The next few were slightly challenging. But this one had way too many squares way out of position, and he thought he had the solution already. Now he'd have to rework several.

He pushed and pulled virtual walls, turned the virtual crank handles, and slid room pieces sideways for another 15 minutes until finally the whole maze glowed red a bit, indicating it was solved.

"That’s odd, for the other levels, they all glowed bluish after completion," Jensen thought.

Removing his goggles for a minute, he grabbed his smartphone and scanned the completed barcode, which directed his phone and VR headset when he put it back on to...

Prison. The start of the game.

"MUWHAA HA HA HA HA! YOU'VE BEEN CAUGHT! YOU SHOULD'VE CHECKED THE NORTHWEST CORNER MORE CAREFULLY! SORRY JENSEN, YOU LOSE!"

So ... a VR version of Box World, with a slightly sadistic UI?

Not quite boxworld, but sortof. You literally are moving around in a QR code that has to be solved like a slide puzzle, and once solved, takes you to the next level.

End of the line for one who begins without a complete pre- reading of the QR instructions.
