Rather than breaking out the shovels in winter, just sprinkle sawdust on the driveway and water it after a snowfall.
So for the entire winter you'll have a quite tractive surface on the driveway, with almost no effort.
And during the summer the coolest driveway in the neighbourhood.

After a snowfall, use a lawn-roller to flatten the driveway, then spread the tree-dust on top. It should be overall rather less energy expended than tossing snow off to the side. |
