Rather than being a showcase of miniaturization advancement in electronics, Pocket PC is a sexist product originally designed to appeal to male nerd who wears shirt with upper left chest pocket. Isnt it anti-fashion to stuff things in the pocket to make it bulge and visually unappealing in the first
place? As a result of this male centric focus, applications that require visual-tactile coordination such as video, spreadsheet, word processing, web browsing are hampered by the limited screen size display. Pocket PC nowadays ends up becoming FM radio, mp3 player, voice recorder heavy but thin on visual-tactile practicality. Latest model is equipped with CPU clock speed as high as 400 mhz but you cant even type or peruse a full page A4 size ebook document without scrolling like mad. To accomodate to the Moore's Law, we need a feminization attitude to allow a larger screen size adjustment. The unit will feature display at least twice as large to make room for larger head shot during mobile web conferencing, horizontal length to fit a 8.5 inch sentence. Possibly, a touch screen standard QWERTY keyboard can be overlayed translucently above any application processes running in the background and stylus maneuvering will no longer be needed. A PC that is designed to be carried in the purse will make computing more friendly than one designed for the pocket.

there's nothing sexist about having a too small PDA, that's nonsense. There are many big PDAs and loads of small PCs.
[MFD] ? consumer advice. |
see when you say purse, I am thinking 3" x 3" but then I am English. |
There used to be a greater range of larger PDAs with keyboards and larger screens, but most people seemed to buy smaller, palm sized devices. So, some manufacturers discontinued the larger models. |
However, as [neilp] notes today you can buy any size of device you might want, as long as you don't limit yourself to a particular brand. |

I don't understand your sexist product theory at all. I don't see anything masculine about a pocket pc; likewise I don't see anything feminine about a purse (or other bag, eg handbag). |

So, size does matter to women, apparently. |

I think you're OK [gromit], unless you can get it in your shirt pocket... |

You mean 7.62cm x 7.62cm, right? |

Get a tablet PC and wrap it in leather, add a shoulder strap? You can put a pouch in the back to carry all the other essentials that usually go into a purse. |
