Incidentally, why isn't "spacecraft" another word for "interior design"?

Puppet News

Wouldn't you rather watch them?

I would :).

With all the competition between networks, I think there is space. I suspect they would not be last in the ratings, at the least, and probably be near the top.

My personal vote for on the scene reporter would be Kermit the Frog.

Don Newman http://cbc.ca/progr...s/politics_bio.html
This man is a puppet. Not in the sense that he is controlled by the PM, but rather that only his bottom jaw moves when he speaks. His gigantic jowels seem solid as... wood. [mighty_cheese, Jun 26 2002, last modified Oct 04 2004]

...on the scene for Muppet news..........

great! TV worth watching (if I had one). Ms Piggy could do the food section.

I'd have sworn that Gretta or Gretchin or whatever her name is (CNN, was a corespondent during OJ and just sort of stuck around) was a puppet.

"And remember, no Gnews is good Gnews on the Gary Gnu show."

I'd love a puppet parody of Dan Rather. We could call him 'Stan Rathernot.'

I reckon these would probably have a wider variety of facial expressions than the average reporter.

Though imagine watching a half-hour of Yoda news:

"Today large disturbance in the force there was. Raged big fire in Arizona."

Wait. Are you saying that Dan Rather ISN'T a puppet? Get outta here!

I have to agree with you, [rbl]. I also believe that Greta Susteringenemem (or whatever) is indeed a puppet. Or at least she was one, before the kindly plastic surgeon came along and turned her into a Real Live Girl ...

Baked in the UK. We call them "Party Political Broadcasts" and "Yesterday in Parliament". Watch the puppets dance. Try to guess who's pulling the strings. Sad but true.

-alx: Love your idea for Yoda news. Top idea. Could we maybe have Darth Sidious doing the weather ? "Everything is proceeding as I have forseen ...."

Why shouldn't we have fictional characters as newsreaders, even CGI ones ? The news is no less valid (or no more real, depending on how cynical one is).

(aside) On US television recently, a commercial for Denny's restaurants, selling their breakfast special which comes with sausage and bacon slices. Kermit and Miss Piggy are seated at a table and order the special. "I'll have three," says Piggy. Cannibal.

It may be true that Don Newman (?who he?) moves only his bottom jaw when speaking.... but that is true of all of us, whether speaking, eating, or yodelling.

This is very baked in México city. One of the two biggest TV stations made exactly this: a puppet parody of their news people. I still like the idea that pinoccio gave the news, he could have the "parody" section, telling only lies like: "George W. Bush is now feeding the poor without expectations of control over them"

Re: Baked in France. Not sure who decided that was a good idea, but there it was; the evening news with French-speaking puppets.

Excellent, only it's literal in this instance.
