Search the net for "harvesting energy from human movement." There are several ways to do it.
A rig for trekkers that was waterproof and creates a minor burden. The most body movements come from arm and leg motion and would likely be fitted there.
Use it to power satellite and and cell telephones,
(low wattage ham radios if a license is had -- search for amateur radio handhelds and QRP, video and audio recorders, electric shock devices to protect one from predators, etc.
A similar generator could be attached to a boat, four wheel recreational vehicle, motorcycle and so on.

Better to have a hand cranked, or wind up, generator, thus separating the functions of movement and power generation, and removing the need for a battery. |

Still, somewhat worthy of consideration. |

I read about something very similar, it was a backpack that bobbed up and down with walking, and the motion was used to generate electricity. |

I have an idea the US Army looked into something like this,
and rejected it on the grounds that it made walking around
harder. The great trick would be to harvest energy that is
currently going to waste, with a device which is itself light.
Devices so far proposed tend not to achieve this. |

Politicians and the media generate extraordinary quantities of hot air, all of which seems to be currently wasted ... |

But you have had limited success so far in getting them to
take a
hike. |
