Power duster

No more sissy stuff.

Traditionally, dusting is done using foofy feathers or soft cloths and gentle sprays. This presents problems. Frequently dust is just lofted into the air, to resettle somewhere else. Dust collects on stuff, which is hard to vaccuum because it is oddly shaped. The duster must take account of every cranny and surface. Dusting is laborious. It could be made easier with a power tool.

I propose the power duster. It plugs into the wall and has two parts. One is an anti-static gun, of the type once used on vinyl records (younguns: see link). This gun, however, would use _power_, sending a steady stream of antistatic to bathe all surfaces and dusty objects. Dust would no longer be adherent via static electricity.

The second part is also a gun, but this shoots multiple long mylar strips, which stay attached to the gun. These are heavily static charged with _power_, and flail about in a cloud in front of the gun. Applying these flailing strips will suck up any and all dust present, but the strips are too lightweight to harm or tip over dusty objects. When you let up on the trigger, the mylar sucks back into the gun, depositing all the dust in a bag there.

Note how dust free the lab is now that she is done with it. The mylar has retracted in this picture. [bungston, Oct 05 2004]
