Mighty Morphing Power Rangers has been a durable franchise. I suspect several elements contribute: excellent and over-the-top monster costumes, quality softcore kung fu violence in every show, and lots of toy selling. Also, the fact that the rangers wear opaque helmets means that the kung fu can be
done by skilled doubles who do not resemble the actors who do the non-costumed parts.
MMPR is now owned by Disney, which has recently made big money off singing and dancing: High School Musical 1 and 2, and others.
I propose a MMPR stage show with singing and dancing. It would keep the cute actors, but now they would sing and dance. It would keep the great monster costumes. Maybe Lion King style puppets as well, which the actors would fight and fling about, and which might explode in the air. It would have synchronized dance kung fu, which I can clearly envision but do not recall having seen. It would keep the opaque helmet kung fu doubles to avoid having to find actors who can act, sing, dance and do credible synchronized dance kung fu. The show would then go on tour, and also be released as a movie akin to the Hanna Montana stage show.
Lurking Disney exec - you can send me a Musical MMPR T shirt as thanks after you produce this megamoneymaker. Maybe a soundtrack CD also if you are feeling generous.

NO! Bad Baker! Bad Baker! |

what Ozone said... I couldn't stand that show; it was people acting out a script meant for a cartoon show. |
When Power Rangers came out I was appalled; in my view it was only ever a really, really poor live action version of Voltron. |
Representing it through the media of music and dance can only be a sign that the End of Days is upon us. |

No love for exploding puppet monsters doing synchronized dance kung fu? Too lightweight? Maybe we could remake "Kramer vs Kramer" with the puppet kung fu. Dustin still seems pretty spry. |

I thought that the pink ranger was cute. [+] |

No, there's something here, yes. I wouldn't plump for Gilbert & The Sullivans style light-operetta, no; I think it'd work best on a massive Miss Saigon/Lloyd Webber emotional pornography tip, with The Pink Ranger in a love pentangle with the other MMPRs (crimson, taupe, oatmeal, heliotrope), poss. incorporating Lord Zedd as long lost brother (or a baby in a basket, a masked organist, Jesus) and a cameo from Anita Dobson as Queen Elizabeth II. |

"Phantom Power Ranger of the Opera" |

I predict a massive money loser. 10 year old boys will not tolerate singing and dancing mixed with butt-kicking. Unless of course that was the REASON for the butt kicking. Then you may have something. |

Maybe Wagnerian overblown musical - much bass, minor keys. Also, this is synchronized dance kung fu, not skippy skippy girly dance. It is to dance as an action figure is to a doll. |

Category suggestion: Public: Evil. |
Could you imagine taking your kids to see this and then running into someone from work? Talk about the ultimate in social doomsday. Not even Barney annoys me as much as MMPR. |
Next we need a Massively Multiplayer Mighty Morphin' Online Role Playing Power Rangers Game (MMMMORPPRG). |
Oh I get it. Like the knife fight in West Side Story?
Right..good luck with that. |
Seriously are there any super heroes that sing or dance? |
Still, I will change my fishbone to a bun. All you have to do is make the spontaneous singing and dancing be the heinous crime that the Rangers are up against. Is that too much to ask? |
Or a West Side Story remake where:
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers = The Sharks; and Queens Park Rangers = The Jets. |
How do you get Pikachu on a bus? |
That's a whole musical, right there. |
(A plague of Pokemon, along with spandex-clad Rangers, is one of the signs of the end of the world.) |
I dont see positive postings about this possible assault on our senses, and yet I see buns being given on this concept, this further degradation of the arts. This would be a new low, a subterranean positioning of our cultural bar. This, this
punch line to the joke, how low can we go. Who, why the buns, please, NO! I am confused. |

Ah, the fickle finger of satire. |

Better off with Brian May's "Starfleet".

This reminds me of the old Japanese Spiderman live-action series. Taking a good idea with a tiny budget and adding giant robots out of nowhere. Speaking of which, where do the giant robots and magically-evacuated cardboard skyscrapers come in? Its not Power Rangers without giant robots and unnecessary property damage. |
Maybe if its MMPR vs Transformers... |

(repeat to crescendo, repeat to fade) |

Tremendous. If it weren't for the danger of digressing off topic I would be suggesting that "Ulysses 31" make a better musical, with a cracking theme tune to boot. |
The giant robots are puppets. The
cardboard city is quickly rolled onto the
stage. Free your mind, Ozone. You too
can do synchronized kung fu. With
practice. |
