It's such a pain and waste to have to burn DVDs for a portable DVD player, only to watch them once and throw them out. It would be much easier to transfer the video files to a USB Flash drive.
So, think of a portable movie player, like the DVD players that have become ubiquitous...except instead of
reading data from a DVD, the data gets read from a USB flash drive.
Store the MPEGs, AVIs, or any other commonly supported video formats on a USB flash drive. Plug the flash drive into the video player, and you can select which file you want to play from the flash drive.
There would probably be some video encoding issues to work through.

Wouldn't that be for computer or a PC? I
thought the idea was more for standalone
portable (or why not also domestic) DVD
players, to let them play from a memory
stick. If so, then sounds sensible to me

Apart from being able to accept a USB flash drive, this is very baked (see link). |

my iPod stores and plays videos.... not sure that a flash
drive would be that much more convenient. |
