One way to create a graphic language would be to hook Manga and Anime fans up to biofeedback while they are enjoying their favorite stuff, and then hook up the fan's emotional readouts with facial expressions and body gestures on the screen/page, and then create new simplified material from the results, and then repeat a lot of times over a great amount of people. Maybe it would be better to start with porno since male reactions would be more consistant and clear and related to simpler shapes or shapes that are easier to generalize. The end goal would be a mathematically-definable, emotional, graphical language.

       I don't get it.

I figure the end result of the development of Manga and Anime will be a graphic language of emoticons that is as expressive as phonetic languages but is more emotionally direct because it will be based on the mathematically definable shapes and curves that come from the face and figure -- a sort of super ideogramatic language. One way to develop that language more quicly than the natural evolution of the art form would develop it would be to create a feedback loop between the observers of the art and the art itself. You could do this by determining what art was creating what response in the observer and then experimenting by changing the art to see how the response changed. Maybe by using both Anime (video) and Manga (comics/sequential art) you could come up with an expressive but logically separated language.

//It would be a very compact language, IE//

From what I have seen, porn and spam are the official languages of IE.

I thought this was going to be some kind of Porn Markup Language (PML) - a notation for describing the content of porn.

For universal languages there's always Esperanto. My but it's ugly though.

       I could take you.

Well, you could have a sort of algorithm that changed shape until the proper emotional responce was generated. You tell your subjects, "I want you to think about the word 'crisps', in the potato sense" and look at the shapes for a minute".

The algorithm would go to work, shapeshifting, and mediating the level of responce in the brain. At the end of the minute, the shape of highest responce is recorded and used as an attractor in later shapeshifts. Repeat a few thousand times and write it out and ask people to read it, and it'll really never amount to anything more than a few shapes.

This should be a programming language.

(I mean yeah, you could write all your own synonyms and then translate them before compiling, but a prefabricated P0Rn syntax would be helpful)

I like it as idea. But I wonder how you would express more concrete concepts (which make up 50% of our conversation, I would guess).
For example, try imagining the preceding sentence in some emoticonic language. And how would you say 'I thought I'd bought two packets of broccoli the day before yesterday, but I bet that when Bob looks in the refrigerator he'll only find one.'

Thank you [base]. The whole sentence you quoted can be expressed by the changing shape of the vocal tract so I imagine it could be also by a series of expressions on a face. Especially with animation there might be some way to exagerate the parts of the face that are most expressive and incrementalize the shades of meaning. I don't know what the specifics of the language would be. Maybe there would be some way to map the vocal tract onto the face, using the most expressive part of the face - maybe the center of the eyebrows as a tounge...

This reminds me of an idea I've been meaning to post, about a sign language that would use the body as a representation of the vocal tract...

well, from my experience with anime, they already have such expression in place.

       teardrop - distress Nose bleeding - erection/like black cloud-Depressed.

also referring to porn...alll you need to hear subjectively is:

       Baka, ecchi, segoui

it'd be interesting if these were used to train autistic people to interact with people again.......Arigatou!!
