As the Pope steps down, the Catholic Church promises a new Pope by Easter - March 31, 2013. I would like to make Easter baskets to include marshmallow Popes of some of the famous Popes of the centuries.

I think they would be very much like Peeps, but with different colours. Of course the Red hat and cape are a must and some golden sugar frosting.

Available in packs of 6.

Pope: An old, never-married man, who wears a bejewelled hat, a cape and carries around a staff with a disco ball mounted atop it... yet claims gays are inveterate sinners. WTF?

Kiddies, DO NOT put anything from the Catholic Church in your mouth, OK?

       What about communion?
xandram, Feb 12 2013

These aren't only for children. Anyway, I'm sure you give your kiddies little rabbits and chicks so they can bite their heads off on Easter or do you have kangaroos [UB]?

As Easter hits them in the fall, perhaps it should trade places with Halloween in the Southern Hemisphere. One holiday we dress up in our best new clothes, the other we celebrate the rising of a zombie. (Which is which I'll leave as an exercise to the reader). During both we consume confectionaries. Seems almost redundant.

Well, they make Halloween peeps, too. I see now they are only sold in the US & Canada. (no big loss for you other people, as they are really terrible confections)

Peeps are not like regular marshmallows. I will post a link for those of you who don't know what they are. If you toasted them the sugar coating would burn. If you want to impale them, that is a personal choice.
I changed the category to *shapes* though it still doesn't explain the humor of Popes to Peeps.

I like this. I don't like Peeps, and get angry every time I see them so early in the stores. A stale Peep must be a disaster. But I think Pope Peeps would be cool, and I would buy them just to sit and stare at them.

[Blissy] I should have called them Pope Peeps!!(but then again, that could sound perverted!) Thanks! xox

Or Peoepes. Let people struggle as to how to pronounce it.
RayfordSteele, Feb 13 2013

Peeps? Are we talking about Mick priests sneaking about at night, peering through bathroom windows?
UnaBubba, Feb 13 2013

Does this deserve a bun? Is the Peep Catholic?
sqeaketh the wheel, Feb 13 2013

You could just give it a peep...
xandram, Feb 14 2013

If you could control your bowels well enough, you could make Pope Peep Poop.
UnaBubba, Feb 15 2013

I thought this might be secret video of the supersecret enclave. Throwing secret smelly soap into the fire. Secret pope-choosing songs sung once in a generation. That kind of thing!
