Is it just me or are all the people who do the Polar bear swim 75 year olds who wear spandex and swim caps?
Is this an indication that being exposed to frigid temp's for a short period of time is capabable of extending your life?
I propose the Polarauna anteroom which is cooled by heating the Sauna "next-room". I also remember seeing a film with crazy naked swedes running from the sauna and jumping in a lake in the middle of winter. God that looked painfull, but they looked quite healthy.

Annotation:

This is how saunas are supposed to work - you heat yourself up in the sauna, then run outside into the snow and beat yourself with fir branches.

I'm not entirely sure why you would want a cold room: sitting in it for more than a few moments would risk hypothermia, and a cold shower would cool you off just as quickly.

Then again, I never understood the attraction of Polar Bear swims, either. (My assumption is that all working parts have fallen off by that age, so there's nothing left to shrivel.)

I'll bet they're actually only about 30 years old, and just age rapidly every time they jump in...

Great way to get your family an insurance/ law suit payoff.

I hear these therapies are occasionally fatal.
