An attempt was just made on Trump's life. As so many other attempts against so many people the method would have been a gun and the location a speech.
I think it should be possible for a very short range radar packed inside the bottom half of a podium to scan the area in front of it, say zero to twenty
meters out. If a bullet (or even a shock wave, if there were an explosion) were incoming explosive charges could propel a set of shields out in the shape of flower pedals protecting whoever were behind it.

No, because he doesn't need sympathy from his supporters and would never get it from his detractors. Also, there's not much sympathy to be had from some doofus shouting "gun" when there isn't one. |
