We keep getting connected more and more by the day. Telephone, Mobile phones, Internet, VOIP, and more.

But don't the pets living in cages and kennels feel lonely ? Lets make them entertain each other.

I propose the Pets Audio/Video Network, a dedicated Audio/Video over IP network where any pet can listen and interact with each other. You can help the pets select friends and make "groups" that like to talk to/interact with each other.

       I can't find a link, but this has been done with parrots. I once read an article called 'Sad Parrots Go Online', which was about how parrots get depressed on their own and were provided with an internet connection to each other to alleviate it.

       WoW! I have learnt to google before posting ideas. But had underestimated the level of craziness in Humans, and skipped googling before posting this one.

       It's only for parrots. I'm not aware of a similar service for guinea pigs, for example. Cats run the internet so they're already catered for, but i can easily imagine people giving dogs access. Having said that, i don't know.

       Yeah. And the parrot thing only tries to be an advanced random photo library. I don't think parrots will like it. Instead of trying to invent new toys for animals using our imagination, which may not correspond to animals, why not just let them interact with each other? Thats how I got this idea.

       Yes, you're right, it isn't terribly exciting i imagine, but the alternative was being eaten. That article's pretty old by internet standards, and it could be updated quite easily.

       Just had another thought about this. Aibo-style remote control dogs linked to sensors on real dogs would allow two dogs to interact through remote Rover presences, especially if they were made to look like real dogs.
My daughter has a robot hamster. That's another possibility. Predator and prey animals interacting? Maybe not.

       [19thly], wow! you should prolly add that as a new idea.

       + I thought this might be some sort of web link to your home TV w/ a web cam where you could tell the dogs to get off the couch.

       That parrot thing .....

       "#$^&&&!" squawked Rufus.
"My God!" exclaimed Susan.
"Where did you learn that word?" Susan said before pausing with the dawning realisation.
"Have you been talking to that dirty Mr. Pebbles?, Rufas! I told you he was a very bad parrot, didn't I?"
"#$^&&&!" replied Rufas.
"That's it!" said Susan in exasperation. "I'm blocking old dirty Mr. Pebbles' IP address!"
