Ever wonder where Fido ran off to? Or if Tabby finally lost his or her ongoing battle with the family of raccoons who live nearby? PetJak uses the same technology as LoJak, the anti-theft device that police use to home in on stolen cars.

Each pet would have a transmitter implanted somewhere in its body. If a pet disappears, the owner would call PetJak headquarters, who would activate the transmitter just as the police activate a LoJak transmitter when a car with the device is stolen. The transmitter would probably be pacemaker-like in terms of size and power.

Just attach one of those beeping keyfinders to their collars.

The transmitter could be screened off by wrapping the pet in foil, or keeping it in a Faraday Cage ....

I am bound to agree - it would be specaily cruel for the larger herbivores like cows and horses; after all, we know there is no Field inside a Faraday cage ...
