Whilst working on a scheme to make the sun dark on one side and then stop the rotation of the Earth ouch, just to avoid having the set the clock backwards and forwards, just hit my thumb, I came up with a better idea.
One very large type fresnel lens type solar reflector between us and the sun..bacofoil
would seem about right.
The light is reflected radially to a humongous (please forgive these abstruse technical expressions) number of mini-reflectors.
These reflectors, by dint of angling small bits of bacofoil on chopsticks get to to change their own angle viz solar reflector/big blue-green round thingy below...
Anyway, by dint of GPS tracking any subscriber can have daylight anytime they like, reflected onto them by one of aforementioned mini-reflectors.
So, for example, feeling a bit mis in December? Simply ping the array and ate voylar a little Saharan sunshine direct to you. Too bright outside to sleep, simply ping it away.
Premium Membership comes with a multi-reflector combo suitable for defrosting a car windscreen or lighting a barbecue...
This idea slightly tweaked

I see so few problems with this that I have to
wonder why it has not already been done. |

Actually, I have decided that making the sun dark on one side and stopping the rotation of the Earth is a better idea. |
|
|
That way everyone would have about 180 days to get to the light or dark hemisphere of the Earth, as they so wish. |

It would save on lenses and bacofoil if you first opened out the earth and made it flat so all parts faced the sun. |

I can imagine turning up at the council with the planning application for that...and the subsequent NIMBY's |

[bogsleep] Interesting - building and supporting a 60-mile-high greenhouse would ordinarily be quite hard. However, a 60-mile-high greenhouse built over the entire Earth's surface should be
self-supporting, with no support from the ground at all. |

Gentlemen....let's play nicely...c'mon shake hands...I saw that! |

The only problem is that who ever tried to do this
would be murdered by astronomers, but if you can
solve this I think it would be very popular in Arctic
regions in winter, that is with the exception of the a
fore mentioned astronomers. So maybe include one
of those dark side of the moon observatories in the
initial estimate too.
Also I think if we hack it then it would make a great
death ray like that great building in London. |
