Have you ever been in the situation of being accused of saying something which you have no recollection of having said? Have you ever told someone something only for them to forget it and accuse you of never telling them? The personal stenographer will solve all this for you.

With the microphone disguised as a necklace, the voice recognition and transcription module is kept in a fanny-pack spitting out ticker tape with your words transcribed. Now you can leave a true paper trail detailing your half of every conversation.

I said what? I said no such thing. Here, I'll prove it...

Audio Read http://www.audio-read.com.au/home.htm
Austrailian audio book and music player for public libraries. If the "Audio Navigator" could record it would be the solution to forgetting. [JesusHChrist, Sep 07 2005]

Then you could eat your words if you said something inappropriate, like //fanny-pack// - silly American. :)

This is a great idea. IPODs have microphones that make recording 5 hours of stuff on the sly pretty easy, but the interface is sucky, and you cant browse what you recorded easily, and you cant rewind and listen while you keep recording. The first people who make usable, and I emphasize "usable", short-term memory like this will be millionaires.

Speaking of usable computers, I just discovered an IPOD- like player for public libraries that is simple as all get out, has 7 old-style clicky push buttons including the on- button, has a battery life of 24 hours, and you can throw it literally across the room without breaking it (linky). It is the as-of-yet simplest technology experience I have ever had. If anyone makes a usable human-short-term- memory-substitute recorder based on the design of this Audio Read thingy they will make a million dollars, mark my words.

Could be used to catch very stupid criminals. Just follow them around picking up the evidence as you go.

I've got one of those USB-memory stick with a mic (and Mp3 player) - Only around 25UKP or so, records for ages (not mp3, but not bad.)

rather than a fanny pack with paper, a more practical setup would be to have a device such as cell phone do the recording and sending it over to your database for storage as text ...

integration ... no need to carry around whole bunch of stuff.

Idea is fully baked. If you watch Chapelles show, he came up with the idea of having a midget ride on your back to take down all of your conversations.
