Working from home is very difficult for the extrinsically motivated. The freedom to goof off when nobody is watching is too tempting for some and leads to many hours lost to procrastination.
Visiting a coffee shop is an effective temporary solution, as the judgement of other beverage enjoyers - whether
real or imagined - inspires work.
Peerpeer.webcam is a judgmental coffee shop for the home. Users broadcast their webcam for their anonymous home-working peers to quietly peer over. A grid of other peers is shown on-screen for the user to peer at.

All those judgmental eyes leering at me...might just lead to
some paranoia. Peers peering at me does that. So I am
neutral and suspicious of this. Slightly. |

I am thinking about isolation, and its merits, and its drawbacks. If I am working on an assignment in the library and am aware others in my class are nearby working on the same, I can go and ask, sotto voce ["dude - I cannot find this Dirak! What is up?"
"Bungs, its Dirac with a c."
"Oh, right. Thanks!"] |
