This product is perfect for the dog owner whose leashed pet tends to run around trees or the masters legs, or when walking two or more dogs that tangle their leashes. Like a conventional, retractable leash, this model can be reeled out and in via a trigger and spring.
The innovative part is that
the leash itself is a web-reinforced, thin-walled hose, one inch wide when flat. On the handle is a quick-acting, battery-powered air compressor. As the dog steadily pulls out the leash, it helps to recharge the battery. When a snarled leash situation arises, pressing the start button pumps 30 psi into the hollow leash causing it to strain to straighten itself out. The dog, no longer on a tangled rope but more on the end of a pole, is backed out of its predicament and can then be reeled in at will.

If the pressure is high enough, small dogs could actually be lifted over puddles with one of these. Need a harness rather than a collar, though .... |

And if the pet owner is smaller than the dog, it might be the former that gets moved around in the untangling. |
