Paper Katana
Deliberate paper cuts comprise future spacecraft warfare | |
Some weapons favor slashing over stabbing such that replacing the blade with paper may be feasible. For the katana, a curved paper tube runs from the handle to the tip. A thin blade of paper sticks out of the tube down its length. Each blade connects to another blade rolled inside the tube, which
contains maybe 77 blades. Blade replacement resembles tissue box operation.
No electricity or metal ores are required. In the ore-starved interstellar spacecraft of the far flung future, hunched and white-bearded artisans make paper katanas in hidden cubicles from synthesized copy paper. The enemy cannot afford to throw its water supplies to dull the weapons; paper weaponry now looms formidable in capable hands. The rustle of paper combat barely disturbs the silence of deep space.
The pen may be mightier than the sword but the paper, ah, the paper, you cannot afford.

Fighting with paper swords? I want my lightsaber! |
This is totally plausible...and a good read. Check out the bullet proof paper link. |

In raising the 'bakery's standards you get my admiration and thanks, [21]. Know that I read and enjoy your annos everywhere. |

You will never make it past the paper-streamer traps in my airlock. - well, with a post-it lamellar, you might. But then i'll shotgun you with confetti. |

what miasere says. I'm glad 21 wasn't around when I posted some of mine. |

They say he's the fastest anno slinger in the west, that he knows your idea before you even post it. Now we must all be vigilant, lest our transgressions be detected by his hawk-like X-ray eyes.Who is this mysterious yet predictable stranger gracing our quiet burg? |

Jamming? The true origami samurai needs only one blade, using it from the tip down and perhaps tripping / tearing off dulled distal section in between opponents. Although the kleenex thing is very cute. |
The loincloth-clad origami samuari enters a room containing only stack of papers, then emerges in full armor, sword in hand. |

//if it could be done it would have been done by now.// Has been; two people knew, and they can keep the secret 'cause one of them's dead. |

Much as the making of the katana was a secret art for hundreds of years, the secret of the jisatsugami katana's existence has been hidden until now. |
Yes, but this information is only available now, because we have developed a better paper katana. |
And I'm only telling you this because we have developed an even better, better paper katana. |

So a massive deforestation program should be on the agenda of any would-be invaders then?
Silly (+), but rubbish (-). |

Fu-go weapons were deployed against the U.S. and Canada by the Japanese during WWII (see link). |
