An exceptionally squat pine derby racer has been cunningly drilled and carved from a single block of wood so that the outer shape resembles a bumpy reptillian looking VW bug because of its chain-like interlocking dowel segments.

As the race begins, this squat body narrows, compressing and elongating until at the finish line it looks like Fred Flintstone's dragster.
