Panel shows typically comprise a 'panel' of a couple of regular comedians, some occasional comedians and a celebrity or two who are promoting their latest whatever. I have no problem with this, I find them mostly entertaining, but there are unknown variables in each episode, like the Edinburgh fringe
comedian, or currently-popular actors/sportsfolk.
Therefore, I propose (after an unnesseccarily long introduction, as is the genre) that members of the public can compete in a game show of assorted panel show style rounds. The prize being that you get to appear on a mainstream panel show.
This provides both the potential to find aspiring usable and affordable personalities and the pathos of watching the majority of competitors painfully and hilariously fail to be hilarious.
This will inevitably become a pair of 10-minute best-of and worst-of videos distilled from 100 hours of footage.
