Bear with me for a moment and picture this: It's trash night. You take out the trash, and have to put in a new 20 gallon plastic bag in the kitchen trash compactor. You're down to your last 20 gallon garbage bag. You put it into your trash compactor, and then what's the first thing that goes into
it? The pristine plastic or cardboard packaging that came with the set of garbage bags, of course. Is the irony of this moment lost on anyone? Methinks not.
What I propose is a new line of garbage bag packaging that actually BECOMES a trash bag. So you rip the seal off the package, use the 30 bags that are in there, and the final bit of package you put away until next week, when you unfold it and it is revealed to be a sturdy model of the same type you were using, only with an area for graphics and barcodes and things on it.

Reminds me of Kramers coffee table book that becomes a coffee table. But Im not all that clear on the detailsyou rip a seal off the container and later unfold it, whereby the unfolded container mysteriously becomes a bag thats somehow palindromic? |
They could certainly package 30 garbage bags in a garbage bag... but the package would be ugly and no one would buy it. |
While we're on the subject, how about bags that get darker and darker so you know that you're nearing the end of the box? |
Don't like the title, but I go for the concept.+ |
Could work for socks, I guess. Sounds like a bad plan for steak. |
Oh, and isn't it spelled "palindrome"? |
Maybe "recursive packaging"? |
That title does not make a great deal of sense... |
The title should read: Packaging ni gak caP |
//the package would be ugly and no one would buy it.// Funny how that works out--THEY'RE GARBAGE BAGS. |
Isn't it though. Yet they are temporarily not garbage. |
Guys would buy it. Especially guy engineers. We're not particularly taken in by packaging. |
Oh, I thought this was going to be packaging with band-names that could be read from any direction. EG: |
Looks almost the same upside down & back to front. |
doop, pid, jof and oxo would also work. |
oxo is already a stock cube brand.... |
I bought small see-through plastic bags (for small parts, screws and such) that were packaged in the next larger version of the product.
Very satisfying to the obsessive compulsive in me, although there's that nagging question of why they never seemed to have the largest size in stock. |
Palindromes have nothing to do with this. |
I was thinking this would be about things like Lonely Tylenol or A Toyota Race Car. |
Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog! |
[half], "Oh, and isn't it spelled "palindrome"?"
Isn't it spelt "spelt""?
*obligatory "old" joke*
Isn't it spelt "I-T"??? |
Sorry, this is a lame idea - where I live, rubbish bags are simple sold in rolls with either a small piece of paper or an elastic band to keep them in place, neither of which impacts on overall rubbish quantity at all. |
That doesn't make it a lame idea [iivix], just because it isn't applicable to you.
Obviously +14 people buy bin bags that come in packaging.
Do you shop at Kwik Save? |
It *is* trash compactor bag specific, rather than trash bag. |
Spelled "spelt"? I guess it is where you live, write and speak. |
I'm pretty sure that is the English way. Word's spellcheck seems to like it... |
My dictionary gives the exact same definition for both spellings. |
So which is gramatically correct?
Someone here must know. |
I assumed that both were correct and was just messin' with ya. |
