It's not evil if the cause is good.

Pagers are retro in many ways but many folks cling to them. Often these folks are older and fearful of new technology, but still gainfully employed and thus with an income. These are the perfect people from whom to get money! One fine thing about pagers is that on calling one, they usually conclude the message with a beep. This property would allow an automatic pager caller to realize it had called a pager; replies that did not produce a beep would be hung up.

The automatic pager caller which connected with a pager would then enter a callback number. On calling this number, the caller would receive an appeal for donations or perhaps a request to purchase a product. Some of the proceeds would go to the above mentioned good cause. Everybody wins!
