Peanut butter & Jam together in a jar | |
I like a bit of jam on me peanut butter does I.
It's a pretty popular combo, so why can't you buy it together?(That sort of statement pre-empts a "Baked" comment)
The jars would somehow have to be filled side-ways, otherwise you would have to dig through one layer to get to the other.
I guess
a blended vairety could be made instead. If I was going with this version, I'd put it in a squeezable tube.
Smucker's Goober Peanut Butter & Jelly combination.

I'm not sure why you've preempted a "baked" comment. You *can* buy them together--I think they're swirled in a peanut butter jar. It looks disgusting. |
Oh God, what a ghastly idea. I've seen Peanut Butter (one of the very few foods which I absolutely will not eat) and Chocolate Spread mixed together and that looks bad enough... Even though this is baked I'm afraid it deserves a rotting fish carcass vote. |
You can get this already?? |
Not here in the U.K. though, surely?? |
Perhaps, then this could be an English version "Windsor P.J." - the queen spreads it on her toast don't ya know! |
I happen to love this combo (honey & Peanut butter is also grand), so I'll counter your rotting fish vote hippo. |
Smucker's Goober....fantastic name! |
I do happen to like peanut butter, sometimes with jelly or jam or honey. But "Smucker's Goober" really conjures up some bad images. Does anyone else feel this way? |
well, my vote's anti anyway... it's not an unpleasant food, but it's not an original idea (sorry), and you would think that a company as big as Smucker's could come up with a better name than "Goober"... yuk-o. heh. |
The last ad campaign I saw for them was 'With a name like Smuckers, it's got to be good', so a good name isn't a real big priority for them... |
Besides, 'goober' is a traditional name for peanuts in the USA...Old Civil War marching song named 'Goober Peas'. |
Mmmmm... goobers! very tasty boiled. One of the things I miss about the Old South. Try PB and cheese with alfalfa sprouts on toast on your veggie friends - like to see Smuckers try to put that in a jar!. |

I thought that substances such as jam and honey had a natural preservative due to their oversaturation of sugar.
If you mix jam with peanut butter, won't it become a mildly sweet substance open to attack from bacteria? |
That's the theory, and that's why I didn't keep Jam in the fridge, till a recent visit by my fantastic Canadian in laws, demonstrated that it can go mouldy anyway. |

Maybe I'll be first to crack the British market though...— | Belly,

They are not acutally mixed, at least the 'goober and grape' thing...They're divided like the spokes of a wagon wheel, and alternate peanutbutter and jelly. |
Perhaps the original thought could be extended to other products. |
Cheese & Pickle is a popular combo over here... |
I've seen <On the internet, not here in the US> slices of cheese infused with vegemite... |
Holy crap, does this idea bring back one childhood trauma after another. . . Goober Grape was easily the most disgusting and horrible thing that my mother ever forced down my throat. An avid peanut butter and jelly/honey/banana sandwich eater, I immediately tasted something funky in that wagon wheel of evil. |
For some reason, the peanut butter does this very strange thing and actually turns into rubber while the jelly becomes so sweet as to turn your blood into saccharine. I suggest staying as far away from Goober Grape/Strawberry as is humanly possible. Your children (and stomach linings) will thank me. |

Yeah, I felt much the same way. I don't think it was necessarily alchemy, though, I think it was just the cheapest possible peanut butter and jelly...couldn't sell them seperately, put them together and people would buy them for the novelty value, at least...I like peanut butter and banana sandwiches myself... |
Sun pat do it in sort of diagonal layers...there's some in my cupboard right now....I got it frrom Tesco's in Norwich. |
The next to be made is peanut butter and Thai fish sauce. |
