Half a croissant, on a plate, with a sign in front of it saying '50c'

This would work fine, except in terms of success.

This is not an invention, but a different use of current technology. I think a collector array made to resemble a forest would be cool. Yes I know it wouldn't be very cost effective as those ugly rectangular pv cells now in general use. Perhaps the "trees" could articulate and follow the sun across the sky (solar powered of course) to maximize insolation.

I THINK YOU NEED TO STOP USING ALL CAPS.

As far as the idea goes, photovoltaic cells done up as trees is a nice idea. It probably wouldn't be very efficient though. The sunlight would be greatly reduced once it got past the top layer of photovoltaic cells.

Welcome, and again, please dont use all caps.

Please don't shout at me. It makes me cry.

It could look like the field of (murderous) "sunflowers" in Larry Niven's Ringworld.

Can I cut them down and burn them in my wood stove?

The job of washing all those leaves by hand would keep someone busy. A tree is a solar collector of a kind, some trees make maple syrup. Maybe your tree could make ice cream. Yum.
