Useful for a PRT system with autonomous self-driving
cabs, this single lane overtake system has its car
wheels
on legs on the side looking somewhat like a spider .
When
driving the car is on the road. To overtake it elevated
and
legs opened so overtaking above car. To stop elevated
to
third level and bridge extended from car lets you down.
Turning off lane is coordinated with the other cars or
can
be achieved by "sidestepping". There's an option for
"formal stops" by having an elevated "rail" actually an
elevated road on each side. All cars drive onto it and
stopping cars pull inwards the legs and drop to floor
level.

I think this is halfbaked, pashutie. On a side note, I saw a
vanity license plate yesterday while riding my trusty bike,
Millicent, and it read "Obstuse". Love it. Love, love, love it. |

The idea is pretty much Baked ... particularly in Whacky Races (q.v.) |
