The new view system is wonderful. I've created a few incredibly useful views for myself, such as one to grab all the recent ideas I haven't fishboned, and one to grab all the new replies to items I've posted or annotated.
I think it might be interesting to be able to call up the views other people
have created. We've seen a couple posted on the "thank you" page, but I'd like to have these generally available on the user page.
Of course, there should probably be an option to hide a view from the public, if you're worried that someone might be offended that you're filtering them out.

My thoughts ran similar to bookworm's (as they generally tend to do), and I actually started implementing a "public" flag that a view's author could set, and a mechanism where /user/bookworm/view/foo would access bookworm's view "foo", if that view was public; but then I realized that I could simplify things for me if I stopped over-engineering something that was already possible with existing means. |

If you want to publicise one of your views, "save" it without a name (don't worry, the old one will stay around), and cut-and-paste the URL of the resulting page into your home page. |

That doesn't work when the view depends on other views of yours; and (am I right?) it's not possible to incorporate multiple constraints of the same time without chaining views. |

PeterSealy: I considered that, but sometimes I want to discuss why a negative idea sucks; perhaps we could all get a "Bored now" vote, as someone suggests somewhere, and filter on that. |

I do the same thing as PeterSealy, filtering out my fishbones, but what I've done to keep track of interesting threads is compound it with the "annotations" view posted above. |

As a general question, and expecting lots of RTFM responses, on my screen, the word "view" appears on the left-hand side, right with "search" and "recent", but only appears underlined when I annotate. |

Added my view that shows highly ranked ideas that were posted by people who were new to the bakery, because the idea I originally put it on was deleted. |

I found that some of my VIEW links were slightly broken after the crash. This appears to be because in URLs the view system refers to users by NUMBER not by name. During the restore, some but NOT ALL user account numbers changed. (I presume only items restored from the Google cache changed numbers). |

So if you have any view links or RSS feed links you use that have something like: |

in the URL, and you don't recognize the number as something you typed when you created the view, you may want to revisit it. It could be a user, category or idea that potentially has been renumbered. |

Don't "bump" ideas. (That is, don't create annotations intended to do nothing but move an idea on the front page.) You linked to it from an idea that you were commenting on; that should be enough for your single-person audience. |
