Let's say that you suddenly saw something incredible that you had to put in your blog RIGHT NOW. Here comes the Offline Blog.
By signing up with the service, you get a special pen mailed to you. This pen is encrypted with a handwriting recognition chip. Judging by the movement of the pen (when you
flick the pen to "on"), it recognizes the letters and makes it as a message. An LCD screen shows you what you just typed, if you will. By pushing a button, it sends the message. Spellcheck would be included on the website. Date and time would automatically be posted.

All pens go missing, it's just one of those things. With this pen though, the consequences that come from losing it are much more dangerous. All kinds of crazy, inaccurate things will be posted to your blog. |
Whenever I make a crap post on my blog (which happens regularly), I shall blame it on losing my blog pen. |
How about this - you have a password that you have to write first. If you don't write the password, then you can't do anything with it. |
The pen comes with a clip-on to your pants. |
If you lose the pen, the website (preferably www.penblogged.com) can run a tracking program to see where it is. |

crazy, impractical, and possibly impossibly expensive - i love it! [+] |

So, the invention here is a handwriting recognition pen and, really, has little to do with blogging, yes? |
Look at the Logitech io2 pen. |
What it does is that it automatically sends the message to your blog, which posts it. Can't forget to mention that. |

And half, the difference here is that you can write with this in midair, on a wall...anywhere, for that matter. It does not emit ink. |
It'd be brutally difficult, or require unusual powers of persistant visualization, to write anything meaningful without an ink record to see what it is you've written. |

How is this different from a TabletPC or Cintiq, then? |

There are about half a dozen of these pens on the market. Nokia has one that works with a mobile phone, which allows email to be
sent. It should be simple enough to rig this up to update a blog. All the digital pens that I've seen also have ink - although I'm betting that the refills cost more than the pen. This device would also be great for digital signatures - your real signature, plus a PIN grants use of the digital signature. |

Teamed up with a mobile phone, it should be practicable. Alternatively, the pen could incorporate speech synthesis. The LCD on the side would probably not be a great deal of use, except for things like telephone numbers. Better would be a retinal display, built into an accompanying pair of glasses, but this technology's still a few years away from the consumer market. |
