Non-Lighter Lighter is a totally conventional portable lighter in its appearance and operation, apart from one significant difference: it won't set alight to anything.
It won't set alight to anything because it has contained within its diminutive apparatus a tiny sensor that chokes off the flame
automatically the instant it detects the proximity of any approaching object.
Fair comment?

Disappointed - from the title I thought this was going to be a lighter that was heavier than (or the same weight as) other lighters. |
That idea would be better described as a "Heavier Lighter". |
No, that would not include those lighters which were the
same weight as other lighters which the title "Non-lighter
lighter" does include. |
Well you should post it as an idea..... (a light weight one) |

At first I thought, "wow, how very zen", but then I read the
last paragraph and I decided "wow, how not so zen". |
What's non zen like about the idea that something intended to set fire to whatever is placed in front of it, can never set fire to anything that is placed in front of it, as placing something in front of it is the very action which prevents it from setting fire to that which is placed in front of it? |

Zis "zen buddhism" is all very vell and güt, ja, but vat
ve are needing today is "now buddhism". |
Because of the apparatus inside, dear zenzag, I mean...of
course, xenzag. |
Ah... but without an indication as to how it would operate, the idea would be described as "magic", and come under mfd category. |
It's therefore a zen idea - the apparatus needed for it
to appear as a zen idea prevents it from being zen. |
Perhaps "Sisyphean lighter" then? |
