Inspired by an annotation to Coffee Table Marker lights (q.v).
Stick thin strips of UV-fluorescent material on the corners of the bedframe, wardrobe, bedside acbinet etc.
Fix a low power UV light to a central position in the room. Connect it to a relatively low sensitivity PIR detector, and
a photocell.
When it's dark, and someone moves around in the room, the UV lamp comes on. All the strips of material fluoresce gently. It's possible to see one's way round the room without being dazzled (no more bruised shins) and a sleeping comapnion will not be awoken.
The UV is only on when needed which minimises exposure and extends tube life, plus it saves power. The PIR is low sensitivity so that it is triggered by an upright moving human target, but not by someone just turning over in bed.

This is fantastic but aren't we maybe getting to the point where having everything highlighted in this way is taking all the fun out of the bedroom obstacle course. Surely if it's your room then you sould know where things are? However if it's someone elses room and you don't know where things are it could make for easier escapes in the wee small hours without having to wake up either the household of your beloved or the minger you pulled the night before. A croissant is therefore well deserved |

What is needed is a protection against the horrors of Upturned Plug Sysndrome. This is caused because Uk 13-Amp BS1363 mains plugs have an evil predisposition to roll themsemves onto their backs (tines upwards) to from an improvised but effective caltrop. Standing on on of them in the dark is high on the list of all-time bad experiences. |

So... after a night out... 'Dave' is crashed out in his bed, still dressed and in his clothes. he was very greatful for the UV night lights as he stumbled into bed. |

Just as he is nodding off, I dance into the room. The UV light turns on and highlights the flourescent 'bones' on my comedy halloween skeleton suit. |

This scares the s*@t out of 'Dave' resulting in croissant for 8th of 7. |
