For those who are elderly or living by themselves or simply like a nightlight.

The ideas of a house have tracklighting installed along the bottom of walls and hallways. Short range motion sensors activate the LED tracklighting in every hall just as you walk along.

Settings can be changed on a main pad in the master bedroom for brightness and which parts of the houses the lights come on in.

[added may 30] additionaly, these sensors could also track intrusive motion as well. if you know you're going to be in bed, or your room the whole night, and no-one else is in the house, theeen you could set it to notify of un-wanted movement and such. or you could just know when the kids are getting out of bed.

welcome to the HB. I like this idea more than is strictly sensible.(+)?

You sure you mean track lighting? I'm thinking you're thinking of strip lighting.

Not sure how original it is to add motion sensors to strip lighting.

I assumed [lolzcakes] meant aeroplane style LED lighting at foot level.

LED lights illuminate from both sides of the walls on the floor level, so yes it actually lights up the floor. Its not like recessed lighting that just outlines the wall. and yes the lighting would follow you, approx 2 m to the front and 1 m behind you

instead of motion sensors, there could be pressure sensors under carpet. i think that would actually be better than motion sensors.

I have always wanted this. Thank you.

Put RFID tags in your slippers and have sensors track where you walk, illuminating just your immediate vicinity. This would also come in handy when the dog runs off with one of your slippers.

As an alternative, the RFID tags could be glued to your toenails or implanted into your feet.

I want the lights to 'scan' either side of me as I walk, like being followed by KITT.

I've seen floor-level lighting in RVs.

LEDs don't use much power; can't you just leave them on?

       Quite baked imho.

For some reason I initially read 'horses outfitted with track lighting...'

//'horses outfitted with track lighting...// Me too! I liked that idea. Kinda like this onoe. In fact, I'm amazed it isn't available as a product already. Major bun.
