All these proposals for national days is getting a bit difficult to keep track of.
I have enough trouble with birthdays.
I propose one day per year where we are free of these things, and can safely relax with the knowledge that we shouldn't be doing something or other.
Only I can't remember
which day it should be.

Or how about combining them all into
one single, glorious day? Christmas, all
birthdays, anniversaries, labour days,
saints' days, easter (bloody awkward,
that one), national gall-bladder day, the
whole lot. Have one absolutely
alarming global annual celebration for
the whole lot, and a six-week holiday
for everyone. |

Change national days to national nights and keep the days free. |

Keeping track is not the point. Participating in those you enjoy is. Celebrating a day that celebrates nothing is like swimming in a bathtub. Boo. |

BTW, I believe that birthday and Christmas celebrations are a crock, and refuse to participate in present orgies (no, really, you don't have to, no, honestly, you shouldn't, well, OK, if you insist, I'll take it). |
