How would we help them? More detail please

Maybe not *in* the lift. But urinals in car-parks: yes. The problem here is that only men piss in lifts, so you could solve the problem with the odd urinal, but that would hardly demonstrate committment to gender equality. So you really need two proper toilet facilities, which entails cleaning staff, cameras etc. (due to drunk men who rather like to break stuff). This all gets a little expensive, but would still get my vote.

Do they urinate in elevators because they can't hold it or because they're jerks? Would giving them closer facilities make them non-assholes?
contracts, Dec 06 2004

[contracts] - I suspect that firstly: both, and secondly: no, but it might stop them pissing in the lift.
wagster, Dec 06 2004

Drunk men shouldn't really be in car parks.

Another solution would be to put moisture sensors on the walls and have the lift become electrified when they're triggered.

I think that rather than installing more and better facilities in car parks, rambling sid's idea should be taken to its logical extreme and the lift itself should be fashioned as a gigantic porcelain walled, rubber floored, pissoir with the wraparound gutter flowing yellow with wee. Separate lifts for lads and ladies.

[wagster] nice try, but drunks of both sexes frequently miss the fixture altogether, the problem would remain.

Incontinence pads. Or possibly... oo. Hmm. let me think on this...

Oo, how cruel your mind works. I like, I like.

I like, too. Not so sure about the awkward-looking, sober person who is keeping as far from the yellow pool and lurching drunk as is humanly possible, though.

       Omlettes, eggs.

[dentworth] - urinals are considerably easier to target than toilets. Maybe we should work on urinals for women? Or even unisex urinals - smaller, higher, cup-shaped... ok, maybe not.
wagster, Dec 07 2004

In some places they do. I think it's in Reading in England that they've implemented urinal stands that are below ground by day and rise up to greet drunkards when night falls.

       Not for long.

In Japan it was not uncommon to see (sober) men and women after a day of public work, urinate in the ditches.[& also strip out of work overalls and put on street clothes.] So I imagine drunk Japanese women just go in the same places as the men. But I've never heard of that in the US. I think the pub toilets are sufficient for women, because they go more often as a habit.

In Singapore (where urinating in a lift is a crime) some lifts have urine sensors in the floor, and when activated lock the culprit inside and alert authorities.
